Project Description: Seattle-based apparel manufacturer, Filson, purchased the historic Star Building in SODO in the fall of 2012 and the design for their new headquarters began immediately. The project included extensive space planning to accommodate 115 office employees, a large Showcase space for merchandise education, and a luggage manufacturing facility for 120 people. The new lobby offers a transparent view into the luggage manufacturing area. Throughout the project, products were carefully selected that were locally made, salvaged and/or made with renewable materials or recycled content including: Poulsbo-made Watson office workstations, recycled glass countertops made in Seattle, and salvaged wood for the lobby flooring, reception desk and wood feature walls. Custom tables made of salvaged wood from a local pea barn were designed for the numerous meeting spaces.
